Follow the steps below to make a DC motor through the article provided by Active Quiz here.

Step 1 : First take the marker pen and wrap the copper wire around it.

Step 2 : Take the coiled wire out of the pan and straighten the two ends on either side.

Step 3 : Remove the plastic coat from this end of the wire.

Step 4 : Now take the battery and pin it on both ends.

Step 5 : Fix the inserted pin with a rubber band to prevent it from coming out.

Step 6 : Stick a magnet on the battery between these two pins.

Step 7 : Now, fit the copper wire bundle made into the hole in this pin.

Thus your simple DC motor is ready.

Basic principle of simple DC motor

When a current-carrying conductor is placed in a magnetic field, it experiences a mechanical force whose direction is given by Fleming's left-hand rule.

This is called left hand rule for a simple DC motor.
